When there was no hope, no future,
When the pain became excessive,
When it was too expensive to live,
When death was easier than facing life, You were there.
You were there when I was forced to smile,
When I was confined in sadness,
When I valued the true essence of happiness,
When I had no one to talk to and suffering had no meaning,
You were there.
You were there when there was no stove to rehash my food and a splinter pierced my finger so I couldn't split the firewood.
You were there when I was beaten with kicks and sticks by the proud waves of poverty
You were there when the pangs of hunger almost cut my intestines, when the hunger strokes were more painful than that of ulcer, You were there.
Just because you have always been there, you have made life worth living.
