Love by Offor Patience

Love is like a garden. If it has to thrive, it must be watered regularly. New seeds must be sown and weeds pulled out.
There are different seasons of love.
During the raining season, everything seems perfect and eternal. Fresh and you would never imagine not loving your partner.
During the dry season, your relationship just seem to need more constant watering under very hot sun. You get frustrated and disappointment sets in. This is the time we start apportioning blames.
After the sunny days, we see the result of our hard work as we get to understand our partner more in a matured way.
Then comes the harmattan, when all seems so cold and boring. It is the time of rest and reflection. A time of solitary growth when we need to look more to ourselves than our partners for love and fulfilment.
Understanding your partner and the fact that men and women think and reason differently is key. Give your partner some space when they need some without grudges. I wish we can understand the season we are in and maximise it. It's always darkest before dawn.
